Key Responsibilities:

  • Foster a productive and collaborative work environment by leading and managing a team to deliver high-quality services and outcomes.
  • Contribute to the development, implementation, and review of departmental policies and strategies, ensuring alignment with organisational goals.
  • Oversee project planning, coordination, and delivery within the directorate, managing resources, budgets, timelines, and stakeholder relationships.
  • Maintain effective communication with key stakeholders, including government agencies, external organisations, and the community, to advance organisational objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and APS policies, providing reports on team performance, financial matters, and program outcomes.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as an assistant director within the Australian Public Service.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate diverse teams, fostering a positive work culture and managing performance effectively.
  • Strong strategic thinking skills, enabling sound decision-making based on data analysis and problem-solving.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for presenting complex information to various stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in project management from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery, scope adherence, and budget control.
