Senior Governance and Assurance Executive Director

We are seeking an experienced Senior Governance and Assurance Executive Director to join our rapidly growing team at Synergy Group. Based in Canberra, this is a great opportunity to work on diverse projects and deliver high-quality services to our clients.
About the RoleThis senior leadership position involves managing programs of work, leading cross-functional teams, and providing expert guidance to stakeholders. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality internal audits, risk assessments, and governance advice that drives organisational performance and assurance.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the delivery of internal audit programs, ensuring timely completion and high-quality outcomes.
- Manage stakeholder relationships, including C-level executives, board members, and other key stakeholders.
- Develop and implement governance frameworks, policies, and procedures that align with organisational objectives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and mitigate risks, improve controls, and enhance operational efficiency.
- Provide expert advice on auditing standards, procedures, rules, and regulations to ensure compliance and best practices.
- Minimum 10 years' experience in internal audit, risk management, or a related field, preferably in government.
- Proven track record of delivering high-quality internal audits, risk assessments, and governance advice.
- Strong leadership skills, with experience in managing cross-functional teams and stakeholder relationships.
- Bachelor's degree and/or relevant qualifications, such as a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to network and lead at all levels.
- Ability to hold or obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance.
