Grounds Maintenance Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Grounds Maintenance Specialist to join our team at LaTrobe University Bundoora. This is a key role in our organization, responsible for ensuring the upkeep and maintenance of outdoor spaces.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in grounds maintenance and gardening, with experience in operating large machinery and ride-on mowers. A manual driver's licence is preferred, and relevant qualifications and experience with chemical application and machinery operation are highly regarded.

  • Main Responsibilities:
  • Undertaking general gardening duties including identification and treatment of weeds, pests and diseases, planting trees and shrubs, and maintaining garden beds.
  • Removal of rubbish and recyclables as required.
  • Mixing and applying chemicals including pesticides, herbicides and fertilisers.
  • Operating a range of horticultural equipment including blowers, hedgers, whipper snippers and ride-on mowers.
  • Performing other tasks as required including lawn and turf maintenance, mowing, watering and raking.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A background in grounds maintenance and gardening.
  • Experience in operating large machinery and ride-on mowers.
  • A manual driver's licence (preferred).
  • Relevant qualifications and experience with chemical application and machinery operation (highly regarded).
