Manufacturing Excellence: Leading Welding Operations

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee a team of technicians and manage production schedules to ensure timely delivery and quality targets.
  • Monitor department metrics, manage production timelines, and lead complex teams in tackling daily engineering challenges.
  • Ensure safety at all times and resolve recurring non-conformance issues.
  • Review work instructions and recommend changes as needed.
  • Meet tight production schedules for high-rate production.
  • Provide technical support to the welding team.
  • Collaborate with management and engineering teams to streamline fit-up and welding processes.
  • Develop and maintain tooling and fixturing designs for weld/fit-up operations.
  • Control production weld quality and apply welding codes.
  • Assess staff skills, monitor material costs, and identify training needs.
  • Develop policies and procedures and enforce system standards.
  • Monitor labor hours/overtime and implement improvement plans.
  • Coordinate capacity planning and minimize production interruptions.
  • Think creatively and follow documentation while maintaining quality standards.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor's degree or associate's degree and 4+ years of experience in gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), flux-cored arc welding (FCAW), or gas metal arc welding (GMAW).
  • 3+ years of management experience.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Leadership skills and ability to communicate effectively with engineering and production teams.
  • Detailed-oriented individual with strong work efficiency and accuracy.
  • Knowledge of general welding, cutting, and fabrication equipment theory and application.
  • Ability to interpret drawings and weld symbols per AWS D17.1.
  • Lean manufacturing principles and efficiency methods.
