About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Engineering to lead our software engineering function in Melbourne. As a senior leader, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our product development teams, including owning the development processes and tooling used in the region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day operations of Gentrack's product development teams in Australia.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to ensure product delivery for the region is managed well and release plans are up-to-date.
  • Lead and manage a team of experienced engineering managers, tech leads, and team leads responsible for 70+ people in the product development group in Melbourne.
  • Be part of the global Product Development Senior Leadership Team and a key member of the regional Senior Leadership Team.
  • Collaborate with the Product Director ANZ/Head of Product, Customer Success, Customer Delivery, Senior Sales, and Account Managers, Principal Engineers, and the Head of Engineering UK to ensure global alignment in key areas.
  • Represent Product Development in project governance groups and engage with senior customer stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Experience in leading and managing a team of engineering managers and software developers in a product development environment.
  • Strong technical background with experience in software engineering and development methodologies, such as Agile, and a clear understanding of the business' bigger picture and commercial realities.
  • A proven track record of successful product delivery within a SaaS environment.
  • Experience in the utility domain or related industries with a good understanding of key utility processes, such as billing, metering, and customer management systems.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage with senior customer stakeholders and represent Product Development in project governance groups.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate the product development team to achieve excellence.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive continuous improvement in development processes and practices to ensure quality and growth.
  • A customer-centric approach and a commitment to delivering products that meet or exceed customer expectations.
