Project Manager Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the transition of ICT services from an internal arrangement with another government department. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of delivering successful ICT projects and initiatives, and experience working in the public sector.

  • The role will provide technical and managerial support to the in-house IT team, which currently comprises four full-time staff.
  • The engagement would be full-time to 30 June 2026 with potential extension if required, by agreement.
Key Responsibilities
  1. Act as a people and functional manager, enabling project teams to deliver against their performance objectives.
  2. Develop and implement a comprehensive ICT strategy that aligns with the agency's overall business goals and objectives.
  3. Oversee and manage the transition of ICT services and implementation of a fit-for-purpose solution.
  4. Provide strong and considered advice to stakeholders.
  5. Collaborate with business leaders across the agency to understand their technology needs and requirements, and ensure these needs are met in the delivery of the transition work.
  6. Build and maintain strong relationships, negotiate and manage contracts and agreements as needed.
  7. Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical staff, including through the provision of guidance on matters relating to technology more broadly.
  8. Ensure the security and reliability of the agency's IT systems and data, and implement strategies to mitigate risks and protect sensitive information.
  9. Oversee the day-to-day operations of the ICT Operations team, including the management of staff, budgets, and resources.
Requirements
  • Strong background working within a public and government sector.
  • Financial management: Monitors and maintains financial records to agreed requirements for compliance and audit.
  • Project management: Takes full responsibility for the definition, approach, facilitation, and satisfactory completion of medium-scale projects.
  • Stakeholder relationship management: Identifies the communications and relationship needs of stakeholder groups.
  • MUST have NV1 clearance.
  • Fully based in ACT.
