Job Description

This role will be part of our AWS Direct Connect team, which delivers solutions that make it easy for customers to establish a dedicated network connection from their premises to the AWS cloud. These connections help to reduce network costs, increase bandwidth throughput, and provide a more consistent network experience than Internet-based connections. AWS Direct Connect is currently available in over 100 locations, spanning nearly 70 cities across 30 different countries.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide critical on-shift network operations support to Amazon.com customers to diagnose and respond to large-scale events.
  • Support and maintain our next-generation networks.
  • Delve into complex issues and develop innovative solutions to ensure network stability and performance.
  • Partner with our broader Technical Operations organization to reduce operational burden and enhance efficiency.
  • Work closely with our Network Engineering & Deployment teams to ensure operational readiness for new deployments.
  • Drive standards across the network and ensure compliance with established policies.
  • Participate in impact mitigation during large-scale events using an established Event Management process.
  • Drive event deep dives, deliver high-quality documentation, and implement corrective actions to completion.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • 4+ years of major internet routing protocols experience.
  • 4+ years of working in a Linux/Unix environment.
  • Strong understanding of network fundamentals and theory.
  • Experience managing proactive engineering, network optimization, and operational network support for a large-scale service provider or enterprise environment.
  • A love for working with new technologies and pushing the envelope on existing technology.
Salary Information

The estimated salary for this position is between $150,000 and $250,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications. We offer a competitive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
