Senior R&D Specialist

Role Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior R&D Specialist to join our New Product Development (NPD) team.

In this pivotal role, you'll be responsible for developing and evaluating new ideas that improve coating performance, meet regulatory requirements, and address unmet customer and market needs.

  • Design, execute, and analyze experiments to develop new coating technologies and improve existing products.
  • Translate consumer and market insights into new projects that support growth in traditional and adjacent markets.
  • Lead and contribute to cross-functional project teams, including coaching and training team members when required.
  • Identify technical risks, develop solutions, and communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and external partners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Developing and evaluating new coating technologies and improving existing products.
  • Translating consumer and market insights into new projects that support growth in traditional and adjacent markets.
  • Leading and contributing to cross-functional project teams, including coaching and training team members when required.

Requirements:

  • A degree in Chemistry, Engineering, or a related STEM discipline; advanced qualifications are highly regarded.
  • Industrial experience in coatings, paints, or related fields, with strong bench chemistry and formulation expertise.
  • Proven track record in product development, with knowledge of coatings systems such as polyurethane, epoxy, waterborne, and solvent borne technologies.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage ambiguity, anticipate risks, and deliver innovative solutions.
