We are seeking a seasoned legal professional to join our team as a Senior Legal Counsel. This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced employment lawyer to make a meaningful impact in the industry.
About the RoleThis pivotal position within our member engagement team will provide quality legal advisory and advocacy services across all aspects of employment law. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in employment law, with a focus on Employment & IR.
Key Responsibilities- Provide expert advice to members on a wide range of employment relations matters;
- Mentor and coach members in employee relation conversations;
- Conduct research and prepare draft submissions to Parliament and Regulators on Federal and State Government issues;
- Participate in conciliation and/or mediation conferences;
- Manage litigated matters before Fair Work Commission;
- Write articles on relevant subject matter;
- Represent members at industry events;
The ideal candidate will possess:
- 6+ years post admission experience in employment law;
- Experience in Employment/IR/ER Law;
- A strong interest in high-level legislative matters;
- An unrestricted current practising certificate (or ability to obtain one);
- Excellent negotiation / influencing / drafting skills;
- Good communication and presentation skills;
- The ability to adapt to changing circumstances and drive innovation;
- Experience in other legal areas such as commercial/contracts, planning and competition law advantageous but not essential.
