About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Safety Advisor to join our team at Ampol's Lytton Refinery. As a key member of our Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe execution of our Future Fuels project.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Safety Systems: Ensure that safety systems are developed, implemented, and continuously improved to protect personnel, assets, and the environment.
  • Review Contractor Compliance: Review contractor compliance with their Health, Safety, and Environmental Management Systems (HSEMS) plans and Ampol's Contractor Safety Management policy.
  • Lead Complex HSE Investigations: Lead complex HSE investigations, monitor closeout actions, and ensure that lessons learned are implemented.
  • Support Audit and Assurance Plans: Support the development of Ampol's Audit and Assurance Plans, including with corporate functions.
  • Deliver HSSE Reviews: Deliver HSSE reviews in the Execution Phase and ensure that direct reports have role clarity and accountability.
  • Manage Critical Risk Assessments: Manage Critical Risk Assessments in line with Ampol's Critical Risk Framework.
  • Engage with Regulators and Stakeholders: Engage with regulators and other internal and external stakeholders on HSE matters.
Key Skills and Experience
  • Experience in Large, Complex Hydrocarbon Projects: Experience in large, complex hydrocarbon projects in LNG, Refining, or similar industry with brownfield and greenfield scopes in a client-side role.
  • HSSE Management Experience: Demonstrated experience in client-side HSSE management in complex contracting environments, including brownfield, greenfield EPC.
  • Australian Major Hazards Facility Experience: Experience of HSSE Management in an Australian Major Hazards Facility environment.
  • Behavioural Safety Tools and Investigation Techniques: Experience and expertise in behavioural safety tools and investigation techniques.
  • IR Management Experience: Experience in IR management in an Australian environment.
  • Risk Engineering and Management Concepts: Working knowledge of risk engineering and risk management concepts.
  • Systemic Thinking and Problem Solving: Systemic thinking and applied problem-solving to get to root cause.
  • Multi-Disciplinary Teamwork: Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary project management team.
  • HSSE Document Review and Development: Ability to review and develop HSSE documents.
