Lecturers play a crucial role in shaping the next generation of professionals. As an Education-focused Academic at Deakin University, you will lead unit teaching teams and work collaboratively with other teaching teams to develop effective curricula and learning materials.

This part-time position requires strong leadership and communication skills, as well as the ability to innovate and adapt to changing circumstances. You will be responsible for delivering effective teaching practices within units, suggesting approaches to improve student success and engagement, and providing high-quality administrative and practice management services.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's level qualification in a cognate field of learning, such as Business or Optometry, and demonstrated experience in teaching and business management. They will also possess a record of scholarly learning and teaching, as well as the capacity and passion for leadership of teaching and administration.

We are looking for someone who is able to work effectively with partners at the University, government, external organisations, and professional bodies.   • Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead unit teaching teams and work collaboratively with other teaching teams in the Optometry program, School and Faculty to develop effective unit curricula and learning materials.
  • Deliver effective teaching practices within unit and suggest approaches to innovate teaching practices, applying latest industry knowledge to improve student success and engagement.
  • Provide high quality and timely administrative and practice management service activities in our clinic.
  • Provide academic support to students within units and courses and work collaboratively to improve student support services to optimise student outcomes.
  • Develop effective assessment tasks and rubrics at unit level. Provide clear assessment criteria and timely feedback to learners to demonstrate learning outcomes.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's level qualification in cognate field of learning (Business, Optometry or similar)
  • Demonstrated ability to teach in a university environment and business management experience
  • Record of scholarly learning and teaching in UG and/or PG programs
  • Demonstrated capacity and passion for leadership of teaching and administration
  • Ability to work with partners at the University, government, external organisations and professional bodies
