Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pharmacist Grade 1/2 to join our team at the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District. As a key member of our pharmacy team, you will be responsible for providing a comprehensive range of pharmacy services to outpatients and inpatients, ensuring the quality use of medicines within the hospital setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical pharmacy services, including drug distribution, manufacturing, and clinical pharmacy services.
  • Responsible for providing medication information, education, and research to support patient care.
  • Work collaboratively with the pharmacy team to ensure the quality use of medicines and efficient patient care.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with patients, healthcare professionals, and other stakeholders to improve patient outcomes.
  • Participate in ongoing education and professional development to stay up-to-date with the latest pharmacy practices and technologies.

Selection Criteria

To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate:

  • A Registered Pharmacist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) with no restriction on practice.
  • Effective clinical drug knowledge and competence in its application to achieve safe and efficient quality care.
  • Understanding of the patient medication review process.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently with limited supervision to meet team objectives.
  • Proven organisation skills and a capacity to manage a complex workload.
  • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills necessary to interact effectively with patients and other stakeholders to improve patient care and contribute to a positive workplace culture.
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in problem solving displaying judgement, initiative and independence.
  • Current continued professional development plan relevant to hospital pharmacy and a commitment to participate in on-going education.

Please note that all NSW Health workers are required to have completed an up-to-date course of a COVID-19 vaccine (2 doses) which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.
