About the Role

We are seeking a talented junior lawyer to support Amazon Web Services (AWS) in the public sector. As part of the AWS public sector legal team, you will work with government, state-owned enterprises, NGOs, healthcare, and educational institutions in Australia, New Zealand, and the broader Asia-Pacific region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Negotiate and advise on technology contracts with a focus on Australian and New Zealand public sector customers.
  • Assist with responses to bid proposals/tenders and support compliance training and awareness.
  • Provide ongoing legal counsel and contract interpretation to business team members on a day-to-day basis.
  • Help develop, implement, and manage process improvements across the team.

Requirements

  • Law degree (L.L.B., J.D. or equivalent) from a leading university and/or law school.
  • Admitted to practice law in Australia or New Zealand.
  • 2+ years of post-admission legal experience at a top national or international law firm, in-house, or government agency, preferably with experience in emerging technology matters.
  • Experience drafting and negotiating complex contracts.
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to manage multiple projects at once, follow through, and meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Complex contracting experience involving public sector customers.
  • In-house government or tech experience is a plus.
  • Sound written and oral communication, and client interaction skills.
  • Experience in public sector procurement and knowledge of Australian or New Zealand government procurement rules.
  • Knowledge of Commonwealth security regulations.
