Transformative Communications Role

The Communications Manager - Student Experience will play a pivotal role in shaping the communications strategy and plan for the Student Experience (SX) Program. This includes designing and delivering communications for various projects within the SX Program, as well as providing strategic communications advice to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Education and Student Experience (DVCESE).

The role reports to the Change Lead of the Student Experience Program and has no direct reports. Key responsibilities include working with project managers, change managers, and stakeholders to strategize, plan, develop, and deliver communications for SX workstreams. This involves designing and delivering an SX-wide program narrative, key messages, and a communications schedule of communications and engagement activities.

The Communications Manager will also develop all communications using various traditional and digital mediums, tailoring to impacted stakeholders' preferences where required. This includes working closely with UNSW's Corporate Communications team to ensure professional and consistent communications. Additionally, the role involves consulting and working collaboratively with key stakeholders, including senior UNSW leaders, Program/Project Working Groups, and Steering Committees members, and UNSW communications teams.

Key skills and experience required include a relevant tertiary degree with subsequent extensive experience or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through a combination of education, training, and/or experience in a relevant discipline. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work autonomously with multiple stakeholders and cross-functional teams across all levels of the University are also essential. The role requires excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to navigate through competing deadlines. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including visual and digital, with a people-orientated approach, and the proven ability to effectively influence and negotiate with stakeholders to achieve successful outcomes are also necessary.

The Communications Manager will be responsible for distilling complex information into straightforward messages for communication to a diverse group of stakeholders, in support of strategic goals. Experience in designing and delivering communications for complex transformation programs with multiple workstreams is also required.
