Casual Operational Officer Job Description

As a Casual Operational Officer, you will be the first point of contact between patients and our food services team. Your role will involve accurately taking patient meal orders, explaining menu options, and adhering to guidelines for patients with therapeutic diet requirements.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Take patient meal orders by phone or at bedside using an iPad, following patient safety guidelines and customer service standards.
  • Familiarize yourself with the room service menu, using appropriate terminology and promoting items confidently.
  • Explain menu options and adhere to guidelines and coding compliance in place for patients with therapeutic diet requirements.
  • Perform administrative tasks, troubleshoot patient and staff inquiries, and liaise with clinical staff.
  • Respond quickly and positively to changing requirements to meet business demands.

Requirements:
  • Excellent customer service skills with a willingness to exceed patient expectations.
  • High level of communication skills, including building rapport with patients and working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Confidence using computers and technology, with sound knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, problem-solving, and time management skills.
  • A strong work ethic, positive attitude, and ability to work in a team, promoting Mater values.
