Strata Underwriter Role

The primary purpose of this role is to contribute to the achievement of department, branch and corporate goals relative to profit, growth, service producer and client relations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implementation of effective portfolio analysis, profit and retention strategies
  • Adhere to appropriate underwriting, compliance and file documentation standards and workflows to support the achievement of revenue and profit goals.
  • Evaluate and accept or decline new lines, renewals and endorsements.
  • Evaluate and make recommendation for acceptance or declination on risks which exceed authority.
  • Manage broker and key account relationships for assigned territory through proactive communication, visitation and collaboration with key internal and external stakeholders to retain and grow the business.
  • Visit assigned producers to discuss risks, communicate business appetites, and to produce new business.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • 2+ years experience as an Underwriter specialising in Strata Insurance
  • Demonstrable ability to proactively identify and implement intelligent solutions to unique underwriting situations.
  • Judgement, experience and confidence to make appropriate recommendations for tailoring coverage and manuscripting policies.
  • Demonstrable capacity and efficacy in utilising negotiation strategies to achieve constructive business outcomes
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with people and influence decisions.
