Senior Contracts Administrator

UGL is a leading provider of integrated systems for road and rail infrastructure projects within the Rail and Technology Systems sector.
The company is uniquely positioned and resourced to support its clients in their goals of providing exceptional transport solutions, including infrastructure building and asset management, rail systems, signalling and communications, tunnel, and intelligent transport systems.
This role will support the commercial function of the Gippsland Line Upgrade – part of Victoria's Big Build. The initial contract duration is 3-6 months, with potential extension possible although not guaranteed.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all contract information effectively and profitably, drawing up subcontract and supplier documentation for high-complexity projects or multiple projects as directed.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of project contract documentation, including head contracts and subcontracts.
- Negotiate with clients and subcontractors alongside the Project Manager and Commercial Manager to secure the best commercial outcome for the project.
- Conduct risk assessments and opportunity analyses for projects and report on areas exposing margin, program, or reputation.
- Undertake cost controlling, estimating, budgeting, forecasting, subcontract claim review, and commercial negotiation activities to meet or exceed budgetary targets.
- Evaluate whether the project meets contract documentation and company standards, and ensure compliance.
- Assist the project team with contract administration, including procurement, budgets, progress claims, written documentation, and disputes.
- Liaise with stakeholders to manage variations and maintain written records of discussions and agreements to ensure effective service provision without disputes.
- Compile contractual claims (time and/or cost) and assist with developing client variations, including quantities, rate build-ups, and supporting information.
- Accountable for preparing progress claims, measuring quantities, NOD & EOT submissions, retention/security release, and certificates under the main contract according to contract requirements.
- Ensure selected subcontractors comply with Industrial Relations requirements and audit them for compliance.
Requirements to Succeed
- Tertiary qualifications in Commercial Management, Commercial Law, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or similar fields.
- A Senior Contracts Administrator with extensive Australian large infrastructure experience, with rail experience being beneficial.
- This opportunity suits a Senior Contracts Administrator who can travel across offices and project sites, committing to a 3-6 month assignment.
Estimated annual salary: $120,000-$150,000 AUD, depending on experience and qualifications. This figure is based on industry standards and market rates for similar roles in Melbourne, Australia.
