About This Leadership Opportunity

GGNTAC seeks an experienced Chief Executive Officer to drive business growth and strategic development in a remote Indigenous community setting.

The successful candidate will be based in Cairns, surrounded by lush tropical rainforest and with easy access to the Great Barrier Reef and Wet Tropics Rainforests.

Our Organisation's Vision

GGNTAC is a Prescribed Body Corporate representing the Gangalidda and Garawa People who hold native title rights interests in land and sea country in the Southern Gulf of Carpentaria.

We aim to undertake economic development projects that support Indigenous-owned businesses and manage land and sea resources to protect biodiversity and cultural heritage.

The Leadership Role

This is a diverse and challenging leadership position requiring extensive travel to drive commercial opportunities across industries including Resources, Tourism, Land Management, and Service Delivery.

You will bring experience from varied sectors and be responsible for driving business growth, ensuring strategies for future Indigenous leaders, and providing financial and operational oversight.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Implementing our 10-year Strategic Plan and 5-year Economic Development and Operational Plans.
  • Developing Annual Business Plans and controlling expenditure.
  • Providing strong financial and operational oversight and management of all areas of business.
  • Guiding our Board to achieve sustainable business outcomes.
  • Cultivating a culture of continual development and fostering best practice business management.
Requirements

We seek a person with prior experience in similar managerial roles, proven ability with business development, and knowledge of Aboriginal cultures and remote Indigenous community issues.

Key requirements include:

  • Ability to manage multiple projects with inclusive stakeholder engagement.
  • Demonstrated Risk Management and Compliance experience.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
