About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Policy Officer to join our team at the Queensland Fire and Emergency Services. As a key member of our Strategic Policy team, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing policies that support the department's operational and organisational outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the planning, development, implementation and review of strategies and policies for the department.
  • Identify potential risks and issues impacting the department and our stakeholders, and support the development of innovative strategies and solutions.
  • Provide high-level policy advice to senior management in relation to whole-of-government policy issues affecting the department.
  • Undertake research and analysis of government policy proposals and emerging issues, and provide recommendations for action and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to foster collegial and cooperative action towards achieving organisational priorities and strategic objectives.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a related discipline and/or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and strategically.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a high level of flexibility and adaptability.
