Job Summary

This role focuses on developing and fostering economic growth within the Indigenous tourism industry. The successful candidate will build relationships with Indigenous stakeholders, businesses, and regional organizations to drive collaborative projects and commercial opportunities.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Tourism Development: Establish partnerships with Indigenous businesses, Prescribed Body Corporates, and regional tourism organizations to deliver workshops, engagement activities, and collaborative projects that promote Indigenous tourism experiences.
  • Guidance and Support: Assist Indigenous businesses in refining their vision and pathway to success, securing collaborators, and accessing support resources.
  • Crisis Management: Respond promptly to public-facing matters related to Indigenous tourism in the region.
  • Success Storytelling: Highlight Indigenous tourism success stories through case studies that showcase effective business practices.
  • Program Development: Contribute to designing and delivering programs aimed at fostering economic development of the tourism industry, focusing on business development of Indigenous tourism operators and experiences.
  • Representation: Represent the department at interdepartmental and interagency meetings, forums, and events to enhance Queensland's economic competitiveness and performance.

This position requires strong communication, negotiation, and project management skills, enabling you to work closely with senior stakeholders, Indigenous communities, and government agencies to achieve the Destination 2045 objectives.
