Aviation Safety Assurance Officer

As an Aviation Safety Assurance Officer with the Australian Government Department of Defence, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety of Defence aviation systems. Working within the Directorate of Initial Airworthiness, you will be responsible for conducting assurance and oversight activities of Military Design Organisations and Defence Military Production Organisations.
About the TeamThe Directorate of Initial Airworthiness is responsible for providing assurance that safety risks are effectively managed. Our team is dedicated to promoting aviation safety outcomes and ensuring that Defence aviation systems meet the highest safety standards.
Key Responsibilities- Conducting assurance and oversight activities of Military Design Organisations, including the continued airworthiness domain for aircraft design;
- Conducting assurance and oversight activities of Defence Military Production Organisations;
- Evidence sampling and performing assessments of organisational compliance against regulations;
- Assessing applications for various DASA-issued Authorisations.
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a strong understanding of aviation safety regulations and a methodical approach to conducting oversight activities. You will also need to have a high attention to detail and be able to provide high-quality advice to senior engineering managers and key stakeholders.
