Job Description

The Data Governance & Privacy Specialist role is crucial in driving responsible data and AI strategy.

This position involves implementing and maintaining the key frameworks that support innovative projects while ensuring the highest ethical standards and robust privacy protections are upheld.

  • Implement Governance: Hands-on experience in implementing and maintaining Data Governance frameworks.

  • Champion Data Integrity: Supporting the management of key data assets, ensuring their quality and integrity meet requirements.

  • Drive Privacy Compliance: Conducting Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) for new projects, ensuring compliance with the Privacy Act and APPs.

  • Manage Risk: Identifying and mitigating risks associated with data privacy and the responsible use of AI.

    • Collaborate and Educate: Partnering with teams across the organization to embed a 'Privacy-by-Design' culture and contribute to training programs.

Qualifications

What You'll Bring:

  • 3-5 years of professional experience in data privacy, data governance, or technology risk.

  • A strong understanding of Australian Privacy Act 1988 and Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

  • Hands-on experience conducting PIAs.

  • Understanding of data management principles, including data quality and lifecycle management.

  • A solid grasp of AI concepts, such as machine learning and generative AI, and their associated privacy challenges.

  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative spirit, with the ability to translate complex ideas into practical advice.

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Experience working within media, entertainment, advertising, or technology industries.

  • Familiarity with data governance roles and cloud platforms (e.g., Google Cloud Platform).

  • Familiarity with emerging AI governance, safety, or ethics frameworks.

  • Relevant industry certifications (CIPM, CIPT, CIPP/E, AIGP).
