Job Summary

The Government Account Manager position is responsible for the ongoing development and retention of existing Government accounts at a state and local government level and customer relationships within the allocated Government portfolio and provide ad-hoc support when required to the Victorian Government Client Partner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take overall responsibility for the ongoing development and deepening of existing sales and customer relationships within the Victorian Government portfolio.
  • Review current state and develop/continually improve sales plans for each of TPG's products and services, for each agency or department within the allocated portfolio.
  • Successfully maintain the value of the existing portfolio through effective customer lifecycle management and completion of re-sign activities that maximise commercial outcomes.
  • Achieve key monthly, quarterly, and annual growth/x-sell sales objectives, building on effective base management to consistently grow (value and product breadth) the allocated portfolio.
  • Maintain up to date and accurate customer contact, pipeline, and any other required information in the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, i.e., Salesforce.
  • Ensure government reporting and compliance is up to date, via an internal stakeholder relationship with the Government contracts manager.
  • Attend weekly sales team meetings to review the quality and accuracy of Salesforce pipeline.
  • Review week on week sales activity and key pipeline movements.
  • Agree kick off and approach to any upcoming tenders and opportunities.
  • Review status of all active tenders.
  • Review short- and long-term Customer relationship quality and key relationship development activities.
  • Review open customer issues, actively assisting in resolutions and ensuring timely escalation (e.g., to Sales Leadership) wherever required.
  • Provide ad-hoc support to the Victorian Government Client Partner as and when required.
  • Represent TPG at Government-related vertical meetings and trade events whenever requested, continually promoting the company and its services.
  • Keep track on local competitor activity, reporting any significant developments to the sales team and TPG executives (including Sales, Product, Service etc).

Requirements

  • Highly experienced in using a "Government solutions" type approach, utilising TPG's product and services to identify customer needs within the portfolio.
  • Able to creatively position TPG as an innovative, flexible, and responsive service provider to customers.
  • Ability to proactively identify and create growth opportunities within the allocated customer base.
  • Proven cultivator and 'closer' of sales opportunities at the Government Agency level.
  • Strong understanding of how to farm and manager accounts up to and including senior executive level within the Government vertical.
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels, including at senior executive level within the Government vertical.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Minimum of five years' experience in a comparable position.
  • Management of high value Government vertical portfolios in the same or a similar market section, including the management of multi-million-dollar portfolios, multi-million-dollar retention and multi-million-dollar growth opportunities.
  • A long term, proven track record in over achievement of sales targets, including selling in at senior executive level, within a closely comparable industry.
