About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity to join Abacus Human Capital Pty as a Tax Accountant in a key government department that directly impacts the lives of all Queenslanders. You will be working in an environment where you will be well remunerated, with flexibility, an ability to work from home two days a week and work hours that are never excessive. You will also be interfacing with key organisational stakeholders at different levels.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct FBT reviews and ensure compliance with tax legislation
  • Develop and maintain appropriate policies, procedures, guidelines and systems to improve tax compliance and efficiency
  • Stay up-to-date with developments in tax legislation and provide expert advice to stakeholders
  • Liaise, consult and negotiate with key stakeholders on the legislative interpretation of tax areas
Requirements:

To be considered for this position, you will need extensive experience working in a Tax Accountant capacity for a government department, or large commercial organisation. Alternatively, you will be coming from a strong Big4 tax background with a strong focus on tax working with large, complex clients. In addition to strong technical tax expertise, you should be comfortable providing advisory support to stakeholders. If you are not quite at an A07 level, our client is also happy to consider people for an A05 or A06 role. Extensive experience working on ERP systems, ideally SAP, will be helpful.
