We are seeking a highly skilled Mine Geologist to join our team in the Hunter Valley. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with expertise in open cut coal mining geology and experience in a similar role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead coal mined and crushed performance through productivity, quality, and handleability improvements in processing.
  • Ensure coal recovery meets reserved tonnages and qualities.
  • Conduct routine inspections of pits and stockpiles, providing guidance and feedback to planning and production teams on coal mining practices.
  • Develop daily coal mining, stockpiling, and feed plans in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Provide coal exposure and mining guidance through plans and directly to operations.
  • Maintain up-to-date records of in-pit and ROM coal inventory movements for short-term scheduling.
  • Improve reconciliation processes.
  • Support conventional mine geology processes, including data collection and interpretation.
  • Undertake projects and investigations to identify improvement initiatives and support delivery of outcomes.
  • Utilize software to review existing information, collect new data, generate databases relevant to modelling, mine designs, coal quality, and recovery.
Requirements
  • Degree in Geology, Mining Engineering, or relevant experience (Essential).
  • Open Cut Coal mining geology experience (Essential); Hunter Valley or multi-seam mining advantageous.
  • Experience in a coal mining or coal planning role (Advantageous).
  • Understanding of coal quality / beneficiation.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work well with people from all backgrounds at all levels within the business.
  • Ability to turn data into clear, practical advice.
  • Confidence with numbers, writing, and using geological software/tools.
  • Safety-focused and systems-oriented; always looking for ways to improve and work smarter.
  • Comfortable speaking up and driving performance; team player with a proactive attitude.
