Coal Quality Technician | Newcastle

We are seeking a skilled Coal Quality Technician to join our team in Newcastle.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the quality of coal samples and processing them according to instructions and current best methods. This includes handling coal samples, loading and unloading coal samples from various plant streams, and performing a range of physical tests.

The ideal candidate will have a strong focus on safety, quality and teamwork, with excellent numeracy and literacy skills. They will also be able to organise work, multi-task and meet tight deadlines, and be comfortable with safe manual handling duties.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring that all work is carried out in a safe and efficient manner
  • Handling coal samples and processing them according to instructions and current best methods
  • Loading and unloading coal samples from various plant streams
  • A range of physical tests including sample preparation, sizing, crushing, dividing and sample storage
  • Transfer validated results into the reporting system
  • Calibration and maintenance of specialised equipment

Requirements:

  • A valid driver's license
  • A strong focus on safety, quality and teamwork
  • Strong numeracy and literacy skills
  • Ability to organise work, multi-task and meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to work independently without supervision
  • Comfortable with safe manual handling duties
  • Competent within a strong safety culture
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new systems
