Autism Spectrum Disorder Educator

As an educator specializing in autism spectrum disorders, you will be responsible for creating a supportive learning environment that caters to the diverse needs of students. This role involves teaching a class of students with autism, coordinating enrolment and transition processes, and working collaboratively with mainstream teachers to provide additional support.
Main Responsibilities:- Teaching a class of students with autism
- Coordinating enrolment and transition processes
- Providing additional support to mainstream teachers
- Creating a supportive learning environment
- Qualifications in Religious Education or willingness to undertake relevant study
- Special Education qualifications and/or experience teaching in a specialized setting
- Ability to provide appropriate interventions for students with autism
- Excellent interpersonal skills to lead, mentor, and collaborate with support staff, teachers, parents, external agencies, and the community
- Understanding of positive behaviour approaches and ability to develop innovative support strategies for students with challenging behaviours
- Experience in designing and implementing individual education programs, differentiating learning to meet students' needs
- Ability to develop, implement, and monitor personalized learning plans, including literacy and numeracy practices, to access the curriculum
