About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate individual to join our team as a Kitchen Assistant at Mission Australia. As a key member of our residential aged care facility, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional food services to our residents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain a high level of safety and hygiene in the kitchen area, adhering to strict food safety protocols.
  • Assist in the preparation and provision of balanced menus for clients and staff, ensuring nutritional needs are met.
  • Ensure adequate food stock and rotation of stored food, minimizing waste and optimizing inventory.
  • Receive and store food deliveries promptly and correctly, maintaining accurate records.
  • Maintain accurate records in accordance with the Vulnerable Persons Food Safety Program, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure the security of the kitchen area, food serving trolley, utensils, and keys, maintaining a safe and secure environment.
Requirements for Success
  • Experience working in aged care or a related field is highly desirable.
  • Previous experience in a food handling role, preferably in a similar setting.
  • Knowledge and understanding of food hygiene and food safety principles, with a relevant certificate in food safety.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flu and Covid-19 vaccination requirements must be met, with a booster vaccination also necessary.
