Accounts Receivable Officer: Key Responsibilities

In this critical role, you will be instrumental in maintaining a positive customer rapport while ensuring timely debtor collections. Your exceptional communication skills and attention to detail will drive success.

Duties:
  • Weekly Reporting: Provide senior accountants with regular debtor updates.
  • Transaction Processing: Effectively handle various payment methods, including cheques, direct deposits, credit cards, and webstore captures/downloads.
  • Debt Collection: Collect debts within the company's 30-day trading terms from invoice date.
  • Customer Dispute Resolution: Promptly investigate and resolve escalated customer disputes.
  • Account Reconciliation: Perform comprehensive customer account reconciliations.
  • Collection Targets: Ensure collection targets are reached for respective ledgers within 45-55 days.
  • Customer Outreach: Initiate phone contact with customers of unpaid accounts by the 10th of the month following the due date.
  • Contact Priority: Target customers in the following order: those on hold, with account disputes, or receiving final demands consecutively.
  • Bad Debt Identification: Monitor potential bad debts and advise senior accountants accordingly.
  • Credit Management: Manage 'On Hold' customers and ensure they trade within assigned credit limits.
  • Credit Applications: Process new credit applications.
  • Customer Support: Respond promptly to customer requests via email/phone.
  • Administrative Tasks: Complete general administrative duties, including filing and maintaining a neat workspace.
