About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and qualified Maintenance Fitter to join our team at George Weston Foods. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our plant and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Daily Servicing and Repairs: Carry out daily servicing, repairs, and maintenance of plant and equipment as scheduled and planned by the Maintenance Planner.
  • Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS): Use the CMMS to record history, book hours, spares usage, and close out work orders.
  • Plant Improvements and Projects: Be actively involved in plant improvements and projects, ensuring that all work is carried out safely and efficiently.
  • Safety and Wellbeing: Work safely by having a proactive safety attitude, applying awareness, risk assessment practices, and following company processes such as LOTO, permits, etc.
  • Planned Maintenance: Carry out planned maintenance as scheduled by the Site Maintenance Planner using sound engineering practices and experience gained in a manufacturing facility.
  • Teamwork: Work with and assist other team members as required, particularly when the work requires two people, fabrication (hot work), or heavy-duty mechanical skills.
  • Breakdown Response: Timely response to all breakdown calls during the shift, able to evaluate the cause and implement the best solution to rectify the breakdown.
  • Electrical Tasks: Carry out minor electrical tasks, such as disconnects - reconnects, resets, in line with relevant electrical qualifications, if applicable.
Requirements
  • Trade Qualification: Relevant trade qualification required (e.g., Mechanical Fitter & Turner).
  • Restricted Electrical Licence: Restricted Electrical licence (Desirable).
  • Experience: Experience in FMCG or manufacturing, and maintaining Feed Milling/Flour Milling equipment (Preferred).
  • CMMS Experience: Experience using CMMS.
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication skills with an all-inclusive approach to dealing with peers and operations personnel at all levels in the business.
  • Specialized Skills: Pneumatic transfer systems, fabrication in a processing environment, confined space training and experience.
