About This Opportunity

We are seeking a senior lecturer with expertise in robotics and mechatronic engineering, who can lead courses, supervise students, complete service roles, and engage with industry partners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teaching and Learning:
    • Design and deliver undergraduate and postgraduate courses, including lectures, tutorials, assessments, and student supervision.
    • Develop innovative curricula that incorporate online learning, alternative teaching methods, and industry needs.
    • Enhance course quality through evaluation feedback, university policies, and academic standards.
    • Provide academic support and advice to students, collaborate with colleagues, and contribute to program development through stakeholder consultation.
  • Research:
    • Lead independent or collaborative research aligned with the School's strategic priorities, using best practice methodologies and ethical standards.
    • Secure external research funding and other support mechanisms to sustain and grow research activities.
    • Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals to enhance the School's research profile.
    • Apply best practice research methodologies and conduct research in an ethical and responsible manner.
    • Collaborate with colleagues and postgraduate students on interdisciplinary research projects.
  • Supervision and Researcher Development:
    • Supervise Honours and Higher Degree by Research students, and oversee employee recruitment and onboarding.
    • Manage employee performance by providing coaching, feedback, and training.
    • Ensure accurate remuneration and benefits for employees.
  • Citizenship and Service:
    • Develop partnerships with colleagues, industry, government departments, professional bodies, and the wider community.
    • Exhibit leadership through mentoring, collaboration, and efficient management of internal service roles.
    • Demonstrate UQ values consistently.
