Senior Officer, Peer Support and Transition

As a key member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in designing and implementing programs that foster a sense of belonging among students.

With your creative vision and energy, you will bring to life engaging initiatives that connect students with each other and their new university community.

You will collaborate closely with academic and professional staff, as well as student leaders, to create inclusive programs that support a diverse range of students - from first-in-family learners to international arrivals.

At the heart of your role is fostering a sense of belonging and helping students navigate their journey from day one.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing, implementing, and coordinating peer mentoring and transition programs tailored to the needs of commencing students within the Faculty.
  • Collaborating with academic and professional staff to support the successful orientation and transition of students into their courses.
  • Developing and delivering inclusive, culturally safe, and accessible transition experiences for diverse student cohorts, including international, first-in-family, and underrepresented groups.
  • Facilitating workshops, drop-ins, and small group sessions focused on student success, peer learning, and help-seeking behaviors.

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A degree with subsequent relevant experience; or
  • Extensive experience and specialist knowledge or broad knowledge in technical or administrative fields; or
  • An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • Administrative experience working within a large organization with formal administrative structures, policies, and procedures, preferably in a tertiary educational institution.
  • Customer service or student administrative experience, preferably in a tertiary educational institution.
  • Understanding of the student journey.
