This is a meaningful role where you can make a difference by helping to create culturally safe and supportive mental health care for Aboriginal people.

About the Role

You will be an integral part of our team, supporting the social and emotional wellbeing of Aboriginal people using mental health services.

You will work closely with mental health clinicians to provide cultural advice and guidance, ensuring that care is respectful of Aboriginal culture and sensitive to the effects of trauma and colonisation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide cultural advice and advocacy within a mental health setting
  • Support Aboriginal consumers in hospital or living in the community
  • Collaborate with clinical teams, participate in reviews and meetings, and share insights to ensure Aboriginal consumers' voices are heard
About You

To succeed in this role, you will need to possess:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Health, Counselling, Social Work, Community Welfare, or relevant work experience
  • Aboriginal descent, recognised by your community, and meeting the genuine occupational qualification for this role
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and the social and emotional challenges faced by Aboriginal people
  • Current, unrestricted NSW Driver's Licence

This is a maternity relief position. The contract of employment will cease with two weeks notice if the permanent incumbent requires an early return from maternity leave. Maternity relief positions can be for a period of up to 12 months, with the possibility of continued employment for up to a further 12 months for maternity leave reduced hours.
