
Aboriginal Mental Health Advocate

This is a unique opportunity to make a real difference in the mental health and wellbeing of Aboriginal communities.
You will work closely with clinical teams, providing cultural advice and guidance, ensuring that care is respectful of Aboriginal culture and sensitive to the effects of trauma and colonisation.
Cultural Advice: You will provide expert cultural advice to clinical teams, helping them deliver culturally safe and responsive mental health services.
Mental Health Support: You will support Aboriginal consumers in hospital and in the community, helping them access the care they need.
Culture Connection: You will help connect Aboriginal consumers with their family, community, and culture, promoting social and emotional wellbeing.
Tertiary qualifications in Health, Counselling, Social Work, Community Welfare, or relevant experience.
Aboriginal descent, recognised by your community, and meeting the genuine occupational qualification for this role.
Strong knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and the social and emotional challenges faced by Aboriginal people.
Current, unrestricted NSW Driver's Licence.
Skilled in providing cultural advice and advocacy within a mental health setting.
Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, with experience working effectively alongside clinical teams and community partners.
