About the Role

As a key contact for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families at CAMHS, you will work collaboratively with families to create effective care plans, complete referrals, and liaise with schools and agencies for holistic care.

Offering a stepped approach to care, the hubs provide tailored support, treatment, and intervention based on evidence and validated assessment tools.

  • Family and Community Collaboration: Collaborate with families to develop strategies for improving child and family well-being, whilst also enhancing professional skills of colleagues working with Indigenous youth with neurodiversity and mental illness.
  • Enhancing Professional Skills: Enhance the knowledge, skills, and confidence of professionals working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth with neurodiversity and mental illness.
  • System Development: Develop systems, processes, and tools for consistent engagement, referral, and transition. Manage an allied health service map to streamline services.
  • Project Work: Lead projects to develop information tools for diverse audiences, consult on a collaborative information portal, and create individualised referral pathways for neurodiverse individuals, including children under 12.

Care Environment: The role is based within the Head to Health Kids Hub, which offers a unique opportunity to work collaboratively with medical professionals, allied health staff, psychologists, and early childhood development experts to deliver bio-psycho-socio-cultural assessments and interventions that complement and enhance existing services for children and their families.
