Family Preservation and Reunification Specialist

CatholicCare Victoria is dedicated to empowering communities through innovative support services. The Family Services program provides Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (DFFH) funded services to families and children in the community.

The Family Preservation and Reunification Program offers a continuum of support to families in need, ranging from parenting support to intensive work with families at risk of child placement or reunification after care. This position plays a critical role in delivering case management services to support the best interests of children.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead complex case work by assessing and developing time-limited interventions that improve outcomes for children.
  • Utilize the Best Interest Case Practice Framework and Response Practice Modules and Elements to ensure culturally safe and effective practice.
  • Coordinate and facilitate rapid, flexible, and intensive services to children and their families.
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive case management services.
Requirements:
  • Professional qualification in Social Work, Welfare, or relevant tertiary study.
  • Minimum 2 years experience working in Child Protection or Family Services sectors or similar direct case work roles.
  • Advanced knowledge of theories, intervention approaches, and understanding of family breakdown, child safety, and development.
  • Experience working effectively with trauma-informed approaches.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Best Interest Case Practice Framework, MARAM framework, and goal setting and review.
