Energy Sector Leadership Opportunity

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Manager to lead our Energy Lead Advisory team. The successful candidate will work closely with energy project developers, investors, financiers, innovators and key public sector stakeholders across Australia to drive capital investments and deliver impactful M&A solutions.

  • Originate new business opportunities through client relationship development and market analysis.
  • Identify key value drivers and risk mitigation strategies for energy sector transactions.
  • Lead transaction execution from financial modelling to negotiation and completion.
  • Develop innovative M&A strategies that align with client objectives in a rapidly evolving market.
Key Responsibilities

The role requires a high level of autonomy, with a strong desire to make a difference in decarbonising the economy. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Performing origination work, including client relationship development.
  2. Identifying key value drivers and risk mitigation strategies.
  3. Leading the execution of transactions through the lifecycle.
  4. Providing seamless integrated experiences for clients throughout the growth and optimisation M&A journey.
  5. Developing and implementing innovative strategies for energy sector M&A transactions.
  6. Managing engagement teams to undertake the acquisition or disposal of energy projects, portfolios or businesses.
  7. Coordinating and leading execution aspects of energy M&A transactions.
  8. Providing expert advice on regulatory compliance issues specific to the energy sector.
  9. Overseeing the preparation of detailed investment materials and supporting financial analyses and models.
  10. Identifying critical issues impacting purchase price negotiations and deal structuring efforts.
  11. Project managing teams effectively while overseeing information flows among key stakeholders.

This is a hybrid position based in either Melbourne or Sydney. We focus on various segments of the energy sector, including renewable energy generation, storage, transmission build out and optimisation strategies for infrastructure investors, developers and utilities.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Proven experience in a transaction role within an advisory environment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in M&A, project and corporate finance structuring, as well as deep knowledge of the energy market fundamentals.
  • A strong desire to make a difference in decarbonising the economy with evident passion for the energy sector.
  • A bachelor's or master's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, economics, engineering and/or law.
  • Strong work ethic coupled with adaptability towards new challenges within a collaborative team setting.
  • Proficiency in assignment delivery and presentation of results reflecting high-quality standards.
  • Competence in risk management practices ensuring quality assurance throughout project execution.
