Research Officer

We are seeking a highly organized and driven Research Officer to join our team on a full-time, fixed-term contract for approximately 6 months. The successful candidate will be based in either Townsville, Cairns, Mackay, or Brisbane.
About the RoleThe Research Officer will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation and evaluation of a community-based research project focused on understanding and addressing the challenges faced by carers in the Far-North Queensland and Mackay Region.
Key Responsibilities- Data Collection and Analysis: Conduct surveys, interviews, and focus group discussions to gather qualitative and quantitative data on carer experiences, service utilization, and community needs.
- Manage data collection processes, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with ethical guidelines.
- Analyze collected data using appropriate statistical and qualitative analysis techniques.
- Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations summarizing research findings and recommendations.
- Facilitate community engagement workshops and co-design sessions in collaboration with local stakeholders, community leaders, and carers.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with community members to foster trust and participation in research activities.
- Incorporate community feedback and insights into the development of tailored support strategies.
- Assist in the development of project plans, timelines, and deliverables.
- Coordinate logistics for fieldwork, including travel arrangements, venue bookings, and equipment procurement.
- Collaborate with project team members to ensure the smooth implementation of project activities.
- Contribute to the development of tailored support strategies based on research findings and community needs assessments.
- Engage with external stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and service providers, to align project objectives and leverage resources and expertise.
- Participate in stakeholder meetings, workshops, and conferences to disseminate research findings and promote collaboration.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in social sciences, public health, community development, or a related field.
- Proven experience in conducting community-based research, including data collection, analysis, and report writing.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders, including community members, government agencies, and non-profit organizations.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively communicate complex information to diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of ethical guidelines and best practices in research ethics and data management.
- Experience working in remote or Indigenous communities and an understanding of cultural sensitivities and protocols is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in data analysis software (e.g., SPSS, NVivo) and Microsoft Office suite.
