About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Community Engagement Specialist to join our team. This is a key role in the Community Wellbeing team, working closely with the Health and Social Planner, Community Inclusion Officer and Coordinator Community Wellbeing.

The successful candidate will provide effective stakeholder and volunteer management to deliver on key health and inclusion priorities. They will be responsible for strengthening community partnerships and stakeholder management, establishing and maintaining effective partnerships with community organisations, government departments, and internal stakeholders to deliver impactful health and wellbeing initiatives.

This role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to prepare reports, deliver presentations, and facilitate meetings with internal and external stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a tertiary qualification in community development or a related field, with demonstrated experience in community engagement, partnership development and volunteer management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Strengthening community partnerships and stakeholder management
  • Establish and maintain effective partnerships with community organisations, government departments, and internal stakeholders to deliver impactful health and wellbeing initiatives.
  • Facilitate consistent communication and collaboration between Council and community partners, leading to improved service delivery and community outcomes.
  • Lead and coordinate Council's volunteer management portfolio, resulting in increased volunteer recruitment, retention, and satisfaction across all Council-led programs.
  • Contribute to developing and delivering plans, including the Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan, ensuring alignment with community needs and evidence-based practices.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Tertiary qualification in community development or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience in community engagement, partnership development and volunteer management
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to prepare reports, deliver presentations, and facilitate meetings with internal and external stakeholders
  • Proven ability to build and maintain positive relationships with diverse stakeholders, including community groups, government agencies, and internal teams
