MongoDB is a leading developer data platform that empowers innovators to create, transform, and disrupt industries by unleashing the power of software and data. Our mission is to enable organizations of all sizes to easily build, scale, and run modern applications by helping them modernize legacy workloads, embrace innovation, and unleash AI.
We are seeking a Technical Services Engineer to join our team in Sydney. As a Technical Services Engineer, you will use your exceptional problem-solving and customer service skills, along with your deep technical experience, to advise customers and solve their complex MongoDB problems. You will be an expert in the entire MongoDB ecosystem, including database server, drivers, cloud, and infrastructure.
Our engineers combine their MongoDB expertise with passion, initiative, teamwork, and a great sense of humor to achieve exceptional results for our customers. We are looking for candidates who are based in Sydney and are willing to work in a hybrid environment.
Cool things you'll do
As a Technical Services Engineer, you will work alongside our largest customers and partners, solving their complex issues and resolving questions on architecture, performance, recovery, security, and everything in between. You will be an expert resource on standard methodologies in running MongoDB at scale and will work with our product management and development teams to advocate for customers' and partners' needs.
You will contribute to internal projects, including software development of support tools for performance, benchmarking, and diagnostics. Externally, you will work with many of MongoDB's top ISV partners and ensure excellence for our joint customers. You will also be responsible for mentoring and ramping new team members and taking initiatives in building knowledge of new product lines within the MongoDB ecosystem.
What you need
We consider all candidates with an eye for those who are self-taught, insatiably curious, and multi-faceted. It's essential for candidates to have experience in systems engineering, including Linux performance, memory management, I/O tuning, configuration, security, networking, clusters, and troubleshooting. You should also have a good understanding of networking concepts and protocols, experience managing large-scale databases, and storage engineering experience.
You should be able to read and write code, and have basic coding/scripting ability in one or more languages. Experience working with APIs and other application integration technologies is also required. You should have a broad awareness of customer workloads and use cases, including performance, availability, and scalability. You should also be able to analyze issues holistically, from the application tier through the database, down to the storage.
Bonus Points
Experience in one or more programming languages developing applications using a NoSQL or SQL database is a plus. A strong understanding of authentication systems such as LDAP, Kerberos, AD is also desirable. Experience using or managing MongoDB, distributed version control systems, and cloud services stacks such as AWS, Azure, or GCP is also a plus.
Success Measures
In 3 months, you'll have gained a deep understanding of MongoDB and its partner ecosystem. You will complete New Hire Training. In 6 months, you will be comfortable working frontline with our customers and partners. You will also complete the MongoDB Certified DBA Associate exam. In 12 months, you will be a technical specialist within MongoDB and will be helping your peer engineers in advance diagnostics. Also, you will be encouraged to handle technical escalations independently.
