Job Title: Industrial Relations Manager

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Industrial Relations Manager to join our project team in Perth, AU.

This is a key role responsible for managing labor relations, union engagement (where applicable), workforce discipline, conflict resolution, stakeholder engagement and ensuring industrial harmony across our workforce.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To develop and implement site-specific IR strategies to support project objectives and drive sustainable outcomes.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with unions, worker representatives, and labor contractors to promote a positive work environment and minimize disputes.
  • Negotiate and manage collective bargaining agreements (if applicable) to ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations.
  • Monitor compliance with labor laws, union agreements, wage regulations, and working conditions to mitigate risks and ensure regulatory adherence.
  • Liaise with local government labor authorities and ensure legal compliance on all IR matters to protect the organization's reputation and interests.
  • Support site managers and supervisors in managing employee conduct, performance, and behavior to foster a culture of excellence and accountability.
  • Conduct investigations into grievances, disciplinary cases, and workplace complaints in a fair and transparent manner to resolve issues promptly and effectively.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Law, Industrial Relations, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of ER/IR experience in large-scale EPC or heavy industrial/construction projects with a proven track record of success.
  • In-depth knowledge of labor laws, industrial relations frameworks, and employment regulations in Australia.
  • Proven experience handling union negotiations, grievance procedures, and labor contractor management to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills to build trust and rapport with stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in a high-pressure site environment with diverse workforce dynamics and adapt to changing circumstances.
