Job Title: Manager, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Mental Health

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Manager to lead our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Mental Health initiatives. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the social determinants of health impacting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and the ability to develop and implement effective engagement programs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and provide leadership for the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Liaison Officer position.
  • Foster relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including the Australian Indigenous Doctors' Association and the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Mental Health Committee.
  • Maintain membership of the AIDA Specialist Trainee Support Program Cross College Project Group and work collaboratively with other staff and committees to progress actions.
  • Support the development of the RANZCP Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan and provide routine and ad hoc advice to committees and staff regarding the appropriate representation and inclusion of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people.
  • Establish connections and work with National and State-based Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations to establish equal partnerships for the purpose of working collaboratively.
Requirements:
  • Knowledge and/or lived experience on the issues impacting the provision of healthcare for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples and health professionals.
  • Knowledge and/or lived experience around the social determinants of health impacting Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples.
  • Strong communication skills, both spoken and written, with the ability to adapt communication styles depending on the setting.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent work experience in management within health, public health, policy, or other relevant area.
  • Demonstrated experience in effective development and leadership of engagement programs with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples.
  • Proven project management skills and experience.
