Job Summary

The Product Specialist role is responsible for driving strategic carrier relationships, ensuring competitive freight forwarding rates and timely responses to global ocean procurement strategies.

As a key member of the team, you will develop and manage carrier and vendor partnerships, analyzing market trends and providing valuable insights to support sales teams in achieving business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Negotiate bundled rates, FAKs, and contract agreements with ocean carriers to secure optimal pricing.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with core and non-core carriers, aligning their strategic approach to rate procurement with business objectives.
  • Monitor carrier performance, ensuring compliance with Minimum Quantity Commitments (MQCs) and agreed terms.
  • Support the implementation of ocean procurement strategy, collaborating with commercial teams to drive competitive advantage.
  • Tender & RFQ Management:
    • Oversee tender receipt, registration, and timely response, maintaining a comprehensive repository of submissions.
    • Ensure compliance with tender requirements, preparing clear and competitive proposals in collaboration with the tender management team.
    • Provide market insights and value-added information to support sales initiatives and improve win rates.
  • Product Development & Management:
    • Contribute to the development of ocean freight products, ensuring alignment with global standards.
    • Support product training initiatives, equipping sales teams with up-to-date knowledge.
    • Align product offerings with customer requirements, collaborating with commercial teams to ensure competitive edge.
  • Process Optimization & Compliance:
    • Ensure efficiency in procurement processes, supporting the creation of minimum selling rate guidelines and aligning with regional procurement strategies.
    • Maintain data integrity within the rate management system, ensuring accurate information accessible to relevant stakeholders.
