Nursing Professional Development Practitioner Role
This position functions as a facilitator of learning, change agent, mentor, leader, champion for inquiry, advocate for NPD specialty and partner for practice transitions.
The role is responsible for guiding learners toward desired outcomes in the following areas:
- Orientation: Creates plans, implements and coordinates orientation for individuals new to the nursing unit/department. Monitors and reports compliance with required documentation for orientation.
- Research/Evidence-Based Practice (EBP)/Quality Improvement (QI): Serves as a resource for clinical inquiry, including identification of potential projects, and/or subject matter expertise.
- Professional Role Development: The practitioner may assist others in their professional role development, practice role transitions, and succession planning.
- Continuing Nursing Education: Designs engaging, interactive, state-of-the-art educational activities/plans rooted in adult learning principles; implements and coordinates activities related to clinical practice and lifelong career development.
