Position Overview

As a vital member of our team, reporting to the Lead Advisor - Health and Safety, you will play a key role in supporting multiple business units across various locations. Your main responsibilities will encompass:

  • Delivering expert guidance and support while engaging and coaching employees to foster continuous improvement in safety culture.
  • Maintaining comprehensive risk and hazard registers for all operational facilities.
  • Promoting a uniform approach to risk management, ensuring that personnel are trained in and utilizing risk management tools, including Take 5's and Job Hazard Analyses (JHA).
  • Overseeing the documentation and reporting of all incidents, hazards, and near misses.
  • Conducting thorough incident investigations as necessary, identifying root causes and implementing corrective measures to avert future occurrences.
  • Performing regular site visits to assess processes, risk management practices, safety behaviors, field inspections, and system audits in collaboration with management and staff.
  • Establishing procedures for conducting internal audits across various sites.
  • Assisting in the implementation, evaluation, and upkeep of the Operational Integrity Management System.

Qualifications

To excel in this position, candidates should possess the following:

  • A tertiary qualification in Health and Safety (degree or postgraduate level);
  • Current certifications in Training and Assessment;
  • Qualifications in incident investigation methodologies (such as ICAM or equivalent);
  • Lead Auditor certification in Health and Safety or Quality;
  • A solid understanding of the Australian Work Health and Safety Legal Framework;
  • Extensive experience in developing, managing, and implementing a Health and Safety Management System (ISO 45001);
  • Knowledge and expertise in Health and Safety risk management principles and Emergency Management;
  • Familiarity with laboratory safety protocols (preferred but not mandatory);
  • Prior experience in a similar role within a multi-business environment;
  • Intermediate to advanced computer proficiency;
  • A valid Driving License.
