Position Overview
As a key member of our Health and Safety team, reporting to the Lead Advisor, you will be based in Notting Hill and will provide expert guidance and support across various business units and locations. Your role will encompass the following responsibilities:
- Delivering expert advice and support while engaging and coaching staff to foster ongoing improvement in safety culture.
- Maintaining comprehensive risk and hazard registers for all operational facilities.
- Promoting a uniform approach to risk management, ensuring that employees are trained in and utilize risk management tools, including Take 5's and Job Hazard Analyses (JHA's).
- Overseeing the documentation and reporting of all incidents, hazards, and near misses.
- Conducting thorough incident investigations to identify root causes and corrective measures to prevent recurrence.
- Performing regular site visits to assess processes, risk management practices, safety behaviors, and compliance through field inspections and system audits.
- Establishing processes for conducting internal audits across various sites.
- Assisting in the implementation, review, and maintenance of the Operational Integrity Management System.
Qualifications Required
To excel in this position, candidates should possess the following qualifications:
- A tertiary qualification in Health and Safety (degree or postgraduate level);
- Current certifications in Training and Assessment;
- Proficiency in incident investigation methodologies (ICAM or equivalent);
- Lead Auditor certification in Health and Safety or Quality;
- In-depth understanding of the Australian Work Health and Safety Legal Framework;
- Extensive experience in developing, managing, and implementing a Health and Safety Management System (ISO 45001);
- Knowledge and practical experience in Health and Safety risk management and Emergency Management;
- Familiarity with laboratory safety protocols (preferred but not mandatory);
- Previous experience in a similar role across multiple business activities;
- Intermediate to advanced computer proficiency;
- A valid Driving License.
