**Job Summary:**
We are seeking a highly skilled Radiochemist to join our team at SGS Australia. As a Radiochemist, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the radioanalytical services section, ensuring customer service expectations are met and the section operates to appropriate quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and Maintain Radioanalytical Facilities: Ensure the radioanalytical preparation and counting laboratory facilities are properly maintained and operated in accordance with quality and safety standards.
- Prepare Environmental Samples: Prepare environmental samples for radionuclide analysis, ensuring accurate and precise results.
- Process Data and Reports: Process data, including radioactivity calculations following analysis, and prepare and issue reports to customers.
- Calibrate and Maintain Radiation Counting Systems: Routine calibration and maintenance of radiation counting systems and associated analytical laboratory instrumentation.
- Ensure Quality and Safety Standards: Ensure all testing methodology and quality control procedures are performed according to NATA and ISO17025 standards.
- Meet Customer Expectations: Ensure TATs are met and immediate actions are taken if potential delays are identified.
- Develop and Validate Methods: Develop and implement new methods and procedures, and validate existing ones to ensure accuracy and precision.
- Train and Develop Staff: Develop and implement training plans for staff in your section to ensure a competent cross-trained workforce is maintained.
- Respond to Technical Queries: Respond to technical queries from internal and external customers, providing accurate and timely information.
- Address Enquiries: Address all enquiries for radioanalysis, including providing quotations and determining appropriate analyses in consultation with the client.
Requirements:
- Science Degree: A Science degree (preferably nuclear physics, radiochemistry or other related discipline), or previous experience working in a science discipline.
- Commercial Laboratory Experience: Demonstrable commercial environmental laboratory experience.
- NATA Signatory Status: Previous NATA signatory or delegated NATA signatory status.
- Supervisory Experience: Previous supervisory experience (desirable).
