Job Description

As a Principal Engineer, you will be responsible for leading a team of designers and supporting multi-disciplinary design and project management teams. You will take ownership of preparing and delivering a full scope of work for EHV substations, new build as well as extension of existing substations for utilities, synchronous condensers and battery installations in accordance with Australian Design Standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leading a team of designers and supporting our multi-disciplinary design and project management teams.
  • Taking ownership of preparing and delivering a full scope of work for EHV substations, new build as well as extension of existing substations for utilities, synchronous condensers and battery installations in accordance with Australian Design Standards.
  • Maintaining client relationships to support project delivery.
  • Collaborating closely with clients, internal and external stakeholders to define project goals, project scope, interfaces, establish budgets and develop project schedules.
  • Participating actively in design reviews, risk assessments and quality control processes to ensure design excellence.
  • Staying abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends in high voltage substations to recommend innovative solutions.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Power Engineering.
  • CPEng and/or RPEQ desirable.
  • Extensive proven experience in the design of HV and EHV substations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and technical skills with the ability to develop and lead design teams and develop strong client relationships.
  • Experience working in digital engineering environments and delivering to local technical standards and guidelines.
  • Commercially minded, able to understand the business needs of both AtkinsRéalis and our clients.
