Key Role in Teaching Laboratories

The School of Chemistry at the University of New South Wales is seeking a skilled Laboratory Manager to oversee the management and operation of teaching laboratories. This critical position requires a leader who can provide direction and guidance to a team of technical staff, ensuring efficient day-to-day management of equipment, infrastructure, and services.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage the overall operations of teaching laboratories, including coordination of equipment, infrastructure, and services.
  • Collaborate with Course Coordinators and Academic Staff to define, develop, and execute teaching programs.
  • Lead a team of technical staff to deliver high-quality service supporting the School's teaching and research programs.
  • Provision of specialist technical knowledge and advice to senior management relevant to long-term strategic planning for laboratories.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement, evaluating existing equipment, infrastructure, and training.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A degree in a Chemistry or related discipline area.
  • Extensive experience in the technical management of teaching and research facilities.
  • Demonstrated experience in the policy, planning, operation, and maintenance of teaching and research laboratories.
  • Experience managing, coaching, and developing staff.
  • Expertise in the operation and maintenance of equipment and infrastructure used in the laboratories.
