About the Opportunity

The Open Spaces team at Cumberland City Council manages the daily presentation and maintenance of open spaces, sportsgrounds, playgrounds, and other public areas within the council area. The team ensures that residents and visitors have access to quality and attractive open spaces.

We are seeking a qualified individual to join our team as an Open Spaces Maintenance Supervisor. The successful candidate will lead a small team in undertaking activities that deliver the overall maintenance of open spaces, including but not limited to mowing, edging, gardening, weeding, and chemical spraying.

Key Responsibilities

  • Liaising with team members and external contractors to ensure efficient delivery of maintenance works
  • Coordinating resources and equipment to meet service schedule standards
  • Maintaining accurate records of work completed and reporting any issues or concerns to management
  • Ensuring compliance with WH&S principles and legislation

Requirements

  • Relevant trade qualifications, e.g. Certificate III in Turf Management, Parks and Gardens, Horticulture, and/or extensive experience in a related field
  • Demonstrated experience operating large plant and equipment, including tractor and implements, and broad area horticultural spray equipment
  • Demonstrated experience undertaking turf renovation works
  • Current class C driver's licence
  • Current ChemCert (chemical handling) qualification
  • Current General Induction for Construction Work in NSW (White Card)
